Finally we can lift the injunction sand talk about the big project I’ve been working on! The present has been delivered and opened! So to everyone who contributed – here you go – this is how it looks!!
Some time ago my boy told me that Irish Baby had seen a patchwork quilt in a shop and loved it – so could we make her one for her birthday?
Without pausing for thought or reflection, being a good mum, I said yes! So having never made anything like it, other than a small cushion in needlework classes at the age of 11, I blithely went ahead and started planning a quilt!
I searched pattern books and magazines, hunted online for ideas and generally plotted. However I have a problem with modern quilting as a craft. I’m a firm believer that quilts should have memories built into them. Whilst I understand the ‘art’ of quilting, I wanted something more like a traditional quilt, using fabric of sentimental value. However trying to organise 2 separate families, other opposite sides of the Irish sea, as well as University friends was more than my poor little brain could work out so we had to go for something else.
A plan was hatched……… little did she know that we were all conspiring against her! mwahahaha……
So the lovely MC (her mummy) organised the Irish half of the family and sent me fabric and birthday messages from them all
