You’ve met my cats before – and heard the stories, seen the pictures of them generally getting in the way. Well last night we reached new levels of it!
Having done my mum taxi duties and delivered Bernard to ballet, I did the supermarket run as today was the day to do Normans cooking. Having then struggled down the road with armfuls of shopping bags (oh to have off road parking!!) and Krypton factored everything into the fridge I sat down for a breather and to have a cup of coffee before starting on Normans cakes and biscuits. From the kitchen is the usual rustling noises (the feline family love having a carier bag to play with!) and banging about in their food dishes, followed by a series of sudden thumps and a clatter.
With a sense of resignation and increasing doom, I shlepped back to the kitchen to see just what they had broken, knocked over, climbed on and generally destroyed. At first glance nothing was out of place, well other than the normal chaotic untidy kitchen out of place, but there were only 2 cats!!
Now at that moment puzzlement over came me? where was the other one.
Sasha was sat sedately by the back door with a look of innocence on her face (I swear if she could whistle she would have been at that moment!
Bob (the builder as named by Bean) had assumed his normal position which is stretched out on the floor along the front of the fridge waiting to have his belly tickled, although it could be that he’s just so fat his legs have given out under the weight!
But no Gruff (short for The Gruffalo – also named by Bean!)
He would normally be sat by his mum, or more to the point hiding behind her! But he was nowhere to be seen. The bath – his favourite playground – was empty, he was wasn’t trying to get inside Pretaboire work shoes – another favourite game.
Gone…. Vanished……. but then from under the worktop, inside the paper recycling bin, a rattle, a rustle and the bin moved – just a little! Should I open the lid? What will I find? Will I finally prove the famous Schrodingers cat theory? Is the cat dead or alive? My very own Stephen Hawking moment was about to happen.
Well physicists everywhere, Sheldon and Leonard if you’re watching – this is the answer to that age old question!!
