With the house close to being sorted I thought it was time to fill you all in a bit (those who don’t already know that is!) about the exciting summer my babies have had!
It was GCSE year for our baby Bernard! So having studied hard and worked her ballet dancing socks off we waited with baited breath for that fateful results day! A phone call from her assistant headteacher at 8.30 in the morning certainly set our hearts fluttering! They wanted her to be there a little early so that she could be one of the 5 students asked to open their results for the local press photographer – how to make a teenager more self conscious or what? Well many of you already know, but for those of you who don’t – she did the most amazing job and was awarded 2-A*, 7-A, and 2-B ! How amazing is that! I say she gets her brains from her mummy – she disagrees!
Words can’t express how proud I am of her, she certainly deserves the result after all the work she put in (obviously Pretaboire and I are gloating beyond belief!) But due credit has to go to the school as well! It may not be the highest achieving, if you read government league tables and they have had a run of dodgy students who have caused trouble and given it a bad reputation – but I couldn’t be happier with what she has come out with, with confidence, results and all! (Splosh went there too and equally did a fab job!)
And so to our Splosh – all that way north in Aberdeen! Well many of you were asked to vote for him to be a finalist in an online contest for the trip of a life time. Well thanks you your support, and that of friends, family and Britmums for tweeting out to you all – he only went and bloody won it! So next week my boy is off to Spain to track bears in the wilds of the Pyrenees!
Again my pride as a mummy is bursting out all over the house! What an opportunity! and how amazing must my baby boy be to be chosen from the finalists!
I always knew my babies were brilliant (all parents do don’t they?) But I am over come so often by just how wonderful they are, and when other people see that same greatness in them, I sometimes think my heart will burst!
So well done babies all – go on out there and save the world! You have everything you need to do it! Just remember to choose me a nice nursing home – one with a sea view maybe. The Caribbean is nice I understand!
