Inspired by #teamhonk and their visit to the virtuous women’s bakery in Ghana, I thought I would spend my Friday making some Bread.
My lovely Hubbie has a gluten intolerance and so fresh bread can be tricky. I’ve tried various GF bread mixes in the bread maker before, but never one made ‘by hand’
However when we joined their web pages, we were sent a goody box from the lovely people at Juvela and I’ve finally got round to making the bread mix up! So in honour of #goodwork lets have a go and see if it’s worth it!
On first inspection, it seems easy enough, the flour mix and dried yeast is included in the box so only a little salt, sugar and oil are required with the warm water to mix it.
My sadness with GF bread is that there no kneading as with ‘normal’ bread, it’s my favourite part of the process really so i do miss it.
The mixture is much runnier than I’m used to (a batter rather than a dough) and very pale – so I’m hoping the consistency is right – it’s what the box tells me it should be so fingers crossed!
And the vertict? – Well Mr Keynko says it’s the best GF bread he’s had. Soft and doughy in the centre and with a good crust on the outside. From my point of view – easy to make – good instructions and a yummy smell whilst it was baking!
.He is seriously looking forward to a bacon sarnie in the morning!
