A very normal, if not dull Monday morning dawns. Nothing much on the calendar to do, only mundane house things – laundry – washing up – bla bla bla…….
Got me thinking, what is today? I mean to the wider world, what happened in the big scary outside world that made it what it is? Did some huge thing happen today in history which we should make note of? Well twitter gave me the first answer and I thought it might be fun to look further and see if there were any more!
1807 – The British government abolishes slavery after the tireless work of William Wilberforce (among others)

1965 – Martin King Luther Jr leads 25,000 people on a march to the state capital Montgomery to campaign for votes for African Americans

1133 – Henry II born in Les Mans, France. Henry was King of England from 1154-1189

1345 – Blanche of Lancaster, wife of John of Gaunt, Mother to Henry IV. And I have to say as far as we are aware an ancestor of mine!
1305 – Robert the Bruce is crowned King of Scotland

1957 – The treaty of Rome signed which established the European Economic Community
And so so so much more!
So on a day when nothing much is going on, stop and think, somewhere in history life was changing forever for someone and maybe a huge social change was going ahead!
But then maybe not much was going on and we should just get back to what we were doing, or should have been doing like the laundry….washing up….bla bla bla
