I know I know – it’s late this week – but you’d understand if you knew what a week we’ve had!
Still here we go 52 Cook Books week 10 !
A Great British Bake off recipe this week – from a book bought about 3 years ago and never ever used!
Sticky Gingerbread cake
It’s a pretty standard ginger cake recipe – treacle, brown sugar, bicarb, etc – nothing mind blowing or unusual. I don’t remember making ginger cake before I always cheated ad bought one – Bernard was never a great fan of it when she was little so we tended to avoid it. Luckily her tastes have changed so ginger cake is back on the menu (hopefully curry won’t be far behind!)
The little bit I have tasted is good – but the bake itself was a bit messy! Boiled out of the tin all over the oven and underneath the greaseproof paper tin liner, but the house smells of ginger and spices which is wonderful!
Sadly I can’t taste anymore until tomorrow – it has to be wrapped in tin foil in an airtight container for 24 hours to make it extra sticky – so I’m being a good girl and doing as the book says! Then we ca have it with custard for dessert tomorrow evening!
So what has everyone else been up to this week?
