What can I say that’s not already been said ?
Friendships renewed…..new friendships formed
You lot – and you know who you are … are fab and I love you! So wonderful to be be greeted by old faces and to be hugged so tight by new friends and people I’ve longed to meet for real!
Laughing….tiaras……well deserved awards………..more laughing and of course awesome chutney.
That Emma Freud bird is awesome isn’t she! Had me in stitches (and sorry but sad no hoper moment – I sat at the same table as Richard Curtis!!! aarrrrggghhhhh! sorry done with that now!)
And as for the awards ceremony – Katy – you are brilliant! Natural and engaging! I loved it and well doe on the award lovely – well deserved – as were all the winners!
Thank you to everyone who was so lovely about my keynote post. It was quite possibly the scariest thing I’ve ever done and I’m dead impressed with myself that I managed to get through it without falling over or blubbing!
There were a couple of things I’d change though – sorry Susanna and Jen, you did an awesome job so please see this as constructive not being bitchy!
The food……. didn’t see breakfast at all sadly all crumbs and leftovers when we got there and sadly the same with afternoon tea!
Lunch was…shall we say interesting? The 2 starter/light options for vegetarians were cheese and a variation of couscous, not brilliant and not terribly tasty. The hot option was to be honest – weird and almost impossible to eat standing around with only a fork! 3 pieces of potato in a cream sauce – that’s a side dish not a veggie option for a meal! I fully realise that feeding that may people in a very short space of time is a touch job and credit to the staff for being on the ball ad helpful. But if it were me planning a menu, I’d make it simple, wholesome, unfussy food that appeals to all – and always an even split of veggie and meat options please!
And secondly I found the hub (and in some respects the goodie bag) much less useful or entertaining than before! I have older children – grown up ones actually and so the holiday companies really aren’t interested in me and a couple of them were actually a little rude about it. I don’t need Heinz baby food – or a bottle – or a dummy! And far too may of the stalls were about running contests with selfies or silly pictures. And whilst I don’t want to sound like a grump – it does get a little wearing and really not my thing at all. But it was hard to have a sensible conversation with the staff because they were so busy pushing me into a hat or a wig as though they had a quota to get through!
All in all – a fab weekend – I learnt things – I laughed – I ate amazing chutney – met lovely people and was very brave!
See you all again next year? I don’t know may not quite decided yet!
