It turns out that the way to a holidaymakers heart is through their stomach! A new survey conducted by ICE (the international Currency Exchange) shows that a majority of travels pick their destination based on the food available when they get there!
So challenged to create my favourite holiday food there was no contest – best food – best holiday = perfect combination!
I was lucky enough a few years ago to visit my brother in the Pacific Northwest – amazing scenery, the friendliest people and time spent with family… When you add to that the amazing food on offer, well why did we ever come home?
We took this opportunity to share with Badger (who sadly wasn’t with us for our American trip) out favourite lunch. First day of the holiday sat in a wonderful restaurant near Seattle we were treated to an American Classic – the deli sandwich! Simple I know, but with good ingredients and fresh bread it is truly the food of the gods!
Badger’s sandwich contents come from a new deli we have in town, proper salt beef, strong cheese and American mustard! With fresh tomatoes and crisp cucumber, he was certainly a happy Badger!
And for dessert? Well in Washington State, the home of Twin Peaks, what else can you cook except…. “Damn Fine Cherry Pie”
So there we are, our favourite food from our favourite holiday. Things that remind us of those sunny days in the mountains, or admiring the view from the space needle, yachts, volcanoes, and paddling the San Juan Islands on the look out for Orca, it really was the most wonderful time!
And when the skies are grey or my mood is low, I hunt out my favourite picture and imagine I’m right back there, at the Paradise Lodge, Mount Rainier, and wish I was right back there! Maybe I should have a sandwich and a slice of pie whilst I look at the photo!
