For crying out loud people – take a breath, shopping is not that important! And you don’t need to rush out to the shops and buy everything, just because some retail expert told you to!
Why are you doing this? I mean really, ask yourself, at a deep & meaningful level, why are you doing this? You don’t need to buy all the crap you about to fill your house with!
Your kids don’t need yet more piles of coloured plastic that will be lost, broken or simply ignored by the end of January!
So stop – think – how else could you spend today – what could you do with your time that was more useful, or pleasant?
The shops will be heaving with other people that you’ll kid yourself you’re different from, trust me – you’re not! They are all there, just like you to get a bargain, save some money, get the latest must have!
Instead of fighting and squabbling with other people over the last “whatever” on the shelf, stay home, read a book, watch a movie or maybe go visit someone and have a coffee. Your children will get over the lack of formed plastic crap, you won’t really miss that extra Christmas pudding or special offer bottles of wine. And you might just feel better about life in general rather than angry at bad parking and long queues!
And yes you can do it all on line from the comfort of your home – it is no less ridiculous – and you are no less ridiculous for buying into the penguin totting, world war 1 armistice flogging, retailers who want your hard earned cash! The people who whip everyone into a frenzy of spending just to lie their own pockets! They really don’t care about you, or your love sick pets, or world peace – they just want your cash!
So why not wait, take a moment, go buy a thoughtful gift from a small local craftsperson, support a local shop or make a donation to charity on behalf of your loved ones, or maybe even be over come with the spirit of Kirsty Allsop and make them something!
Black Friday only exists as a marketing tool, they are not doing you a favour, or giving you any thing extra! Consider, they always make a profit – so if they can sell it to you today at that knock down price – why isn’t it always that price?
I’ve linked up as to Mummy Barrow as part of ranty Friday – but mostly because today is a grumpy day!
