There is nothing like smell to trigger mood and memory.
Estate agents will tell you that it can be vital in selling your house, you’ve heard it all, have fresh coffee brewing, bake bread to make your house smell enticing.
And they are right, I love it when my house is filled with the smell of home cooking.
But what about when the oven is off ? What about using smell to relax?
I love nothing more than a long bubble bath, and having a scented candle in the bathroom can really help to set a relaxing mood and it’s a vital part of my regime – along with a good book, cup of tea and something amusing on the radio! Laid there catching up on last weeks episode of the news quiz and soaking my cares away!
Some thing slightly fruit scented is a favourite, although at this time of year oranges & cloves are a favourite and I love the excitement it inspires!
I am picky about the product though, nothing too sweet, nothing too harsh or overpowering, nothing too chemical, I don’t want much do I?
But I also want, something I can leave on a shelf and know that when I come home from a long day the house will smell welcoming, rather than of the cat, who will have been asleep under the dining room table all day.
And of course now the house is full of people for the holidays, the reed diffuser is working hard to combat the brussel sporuts and Splosh’s socks – this could be a real test of their powers!!
