Morning everyone! Welcome to another week in the riveting series – Oh you pretty things – this week……Socks!
Why socks I here you ask? Well someone asked me late last week and I had to think quick, be witty, thought provoking and on the ball…. and this is what you get….Socks!
But in my defence socks are an important item in my house, I am a great collector of the warm and fluffy variety, although to be fair the collection labelled ‘odd ones’ is a lot larger!
For instance, I bought a packet of socks a few Christmases ago, a little gift for my beloved, days of the week socks (sadly they don’t sell days of the weeks pants in his size!) and for one whole week, he wore the right socks on the right day! And then of course laundry happens, and men looking for things happens, and then the concept of ‘a pair’ goes out the window and this is what you end up with!
Christmas socks are a tradition in our house, everyone gets socks and pants as a gift so there are always lots of seasonal footwear about. And on a grey rainy day in February it’s rather nice to put on a pair of jolly Santa socks to cheer yourself up! Well it works for me anyway!
And apparently I’m not allowed to comment on how much Santa looks like Badger on these socks! Those who know him will understand!
But for me, personally, socks should be about comfort and warmth! Cold feet are a hideous thing to suffer from and I can’t stand having chilly tootsies! So my cupboard (well laundry basket) is full of toastie, cosy, fluffy socks!
For a winter evening, after a long soak in the bath, with winter PJ’s these are a must!
Sadly I have no idea where they came from or how to replace them, I will morn their passing when they go!
Now to my favourite socks (so much so they were already on my feet when I took pictures!) The cheapest socks I have ever bought, from the bargain bin at Sports Direct, they cost me £1 – for 2 pairs of really good Karrimor hking socks!
Warm, soft and a perfect fit inside my walking boots! And they always bring happy memories. I bought them this time last year, for a very specific trip, a journey into the unknown, away from my family and into the wilds, further north that I have ever been!
Yes that;s right these are my my John O Groats socks, worn on our mammoth journey for Team Honk I am in fact wearing them in this very picture, windswept and cold (all except my feet of course!)
So there we are, my world in socks! So hop on over to see Sonya and see her woollen footwear join in the link up and then maybe pay a visit to the the Team Honk page and make a donation for this years fundraising lunacy for Comic relief!
