So as a weekend of hype about the impending “Royal Birth” dawns, can I just point out – I don’t give a shit! As a human being, I of course wish her well, a safe delivery and a healthy baby. As for her position in society and the attending news coverage, speculation and excitement? I find it nauseating!
At a time when so many families are having to attend food banks to avoid their children going hungry, when thousands of people across the world face tyranny and persecution and schools system is crumbling from lack of funding and the stress on staff – why are we worrying about this crap?
When other women in this country are faced with a critical shortage of midwives, crumbling hospitals and broken equipment, this pampered little Princess is taking up a wing of a hospital and has every single help known to man to ensure the safe delivery of yet another royal baby! Who is housed – at our expense – educated at our expense – lives at our expense and going on previous members of the family – fulfils no serious or useful purpose!
In the financial year 2013/2014 this group of people cost us as a nation £35.7 million pounds! How many hungry mouths would that have fed? How many nurses for our struggling NHS would that have paid for!
Now if we break this down that’s just about 56p per person, not a bad price one might say? True, but I’d happily give a hundred times that if were going to be spent where it was needed to assist the poorer members of society?
Instead of buying yet another souvenir copy of some god awful Murdoch newspaper with extra pictures and bunting, spend that money (and maybe a little extra) in the supermarket this weekend and donate it to your local food bank. Drop those pennies in the bucket being shaken in the high street for a cancer charity or to send aid to Nepal.
Trust me – they don’t give a fig about you – why are you wasting time worrying about them!
