It’s fair to say I’m pretty rubbish st fashion! I’m not very good at choosing new things and get pretty stuck in the same old thing every year.
It doesn’t help I guess that I am no longer an hour glass figure…..well lets says there a lot more sand than there used to be and most of has sunk to the bottom! I loathe trying things on in shops, the lights are hideous and they so often don’t have the right size or the colour you want. I say “the right size” every shop seems to use an arbitrary set of measurements and decide to nominate them as a size. No 2 shops are the same and I just don’t have the patience to keep going back to the rails for another one!
I have a series of events this summer and just no time or inclination to shop for anything to wear. So when Simply Be offered some assistance, I very nearly bit their hand off!
I spent a very pleasant afternoon browsing their online store, cup of tea in hand and no crowds of people to get in my way! Perfect!
And what a selection they have! I’m not a great wearer of “pretty” dresses, but given the choices they had, I decided to live dangerously and go for something a little bit different! So 3 news summer dresses and just to be utterly reckless a couple of new bras from their lingerie department.
The 2 tea dresses I chose are brilliant! Comfortable to wear, a flattering cut and easy to wash and wear…. no ironing always gets my vote!
Of course that’s not me modelling them, but as there are only blurred pictures of family parties and ceilidhs where all you can see is my shiny red face, I thought this lady was a better option!
I think my favourite has to be the maxi dress I ordered for my dads 85th birthday party. A simple classic, long line dress in black (old goths never really get over it!) but with some very beautiful embroidery. And very lovely it was too! Well cut, very nice fabric so it hung well and just enough colour to stop people nagging at me for being too dark!
Don’t worry I won’t share a picture of the underwear I chose, but I’m wearing it as I write and I bloody love it!
I cannot recommend Simply be highly enough, at last a company who make clothes for real shaped people, generous cut and well made. With underwear particularly, it’s quite tricky to get a larger size unless you’re Rockafella of course. Simply Be have a wide range of sizes (both cup and rib cage) at very reasonable prices and unlike other cheap bras I’ve tried in the past, the actually fit and survive the washing machine! I need new jeans for work in September, no guesses as to wear I’m going to buy them!
Thank you Simply Be for understanding “normal” shaped women and giving us the opportunity to have beautiful clothes without having to sell the children to pay for them!
