Well there are large chunks of this year which I don’t really want to repeat, and I’m sure it’s the same for everyone!
We’ve had illness, assault, breakdown, loss of work, our baby girls graduation, beautiful holidays in Scotland with exciting days out, new jobs, new training courses, wonderful family time with tears of laughter, and so many other things I can’t think how to list them.
Needless to say I won’t bore you all by going into detail and to be honest there are things I’d rather not have to say again anyway.
Through it all, I am lucky to have my partner in crime, Badger with me. Always there, always got my back and always ready with a cuppa and giggle when all the rubbish is done with!
Maybe the biggest change this year has been the addition of a new family member, after a long time with a doggo in the house, we made the decision to take Millie into our house and our hearts.
She is the most wonderful little thing and I really had forgotten how nice it was to have a pup! She is very good for the soul, well mine anyway. I love having a reason to go out everyday for a walk and the time I spend with her in the woods or marching along the coast is my favourite time of the day. Time to think and mull over the days events or to watch the sun rise and start the day with lung full of fresh air! She really has helped with my mental health. She knows if I’ve had a bad day and climbs up on my lap for a cuddle, if I’m poorly she knows and doesn’t leave my side and she’s always pleased to see me. I’m not sure I’d have got as far as I have this year without her.
It seemed appropriate to join in RED January this year (although I won’t be running, I’ll be striding with purpose!) To raise money for MIND. Too many people that I love have suffered at the hands of mental illness and I want to do something to help those who need help.
So everyday, I will be putting on my walking shoes, and walking away the miles to my total, 35 miles a week! Please please if you feel you can make a small donation via my just giving page HERE I will be forever grateful.
But mostly importantly? Join in! Even if you don’t raise any money, make the effort everyday to get out and walk or run or cycle if that’s your thing. See the outside everyday, it may be dark and wet in January but it really is worth it and think how cosy and appealing the house is afterwards!
