Food is my Figure painting

July 21, 2014

“If it's flipping hamburgers at McDonald's, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft.” Snoop Dogg (yep that Snoop Dogg)   As you no doubt are already aware we like to refer to ourselves as a 'crafty family'.   That is not to say that we are particularly wily or cunning, although my dear Mumsicles has been compared to a fox with two tails. We are crafty in as much as we love, or perhaps need to craft, to create. We say 'crafty' to distinguish ourselves from those who might be considered 'arty'. … [Read more...]

What am I doing now?

July 1, 2014

There's a very lovely meme doing the rounds at the moment and the equally lovely Mummy Central has tagged me - so here goes - what am I doing now? Currently I am: Waiting for my girlie to get home from dancing so we can have dinner! I'm bloody starving! But also on a longer term note, making a complete set of tudor clothing for a friend, busy busy busy making Elsa costumes for lovely blogging chums and enjoying being creative! Reading: Bill Bryson - At Home. I love his books, easy to read, always interesting and usually funny. This one is the story of the house - how it changes through … [Read more...]

A lovely (if chilly) day out and victorian cooking

February 23, 2013

To celebrate the end of the half term, and Hubby and Bernards impending return to school/college, we decided to have a grand day out with my darling dad. So with lots of warm layers, and woolly hats we set of for Audley End  the scene of many happy childhood days out. i had no idea just how many bits of the pig people will eat! And as part of the the ''Everything but the squeak'  programme the kitchens were in full swing preparing a huge array of pork based cooking - from noses and ears to toes and tummies! And as a keen hisotrical cooking nut, the most impressive thing was … [Read more...]

Gluten free brownies

February 15, 2013

It's been a long week in the Keynko household, so I thought there was a need for a Friday treat! And what better than a yummy chocolate brownie? It also seemed a good time to try an fantastic recipe I found on Pinterest for a 3 ingredient brownie  What could be simpler? 1 cup of Nutella 10 tbsp rice flour (normal plain flour is just as good if you can eat it!) 2 eggs mix together and cook for about 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 °C (350°F) Just that - 2 minutes and in the oven! And the result?? A very tasty, gooey, nutty brownie! I added … [Read more...]

Gluten Free Baking!

February 8, 2013

Inspired by #teamhonk and their visit to the virtuous women's bakery in Ghana, I thought I would spend my Friday making some Bread. My lovely Hubbie has a gluten intolerance and so fresh bread can be tricky. I've tried various GF bread mixes in the bread maker before, but never one made 'by hand' However when we joined their web pages, we were sent a goody box from the lovely people at Juvela and I've finally got round to making the bread mix up! So in honour of #goodwork lets have a go and see if it's worth it! On first inspection, it seems easy enough, the flour mix and dried … [Read more...]

Sudden desperate need for cake!

September 11, 2012

Bernard and I had a sudden desperate need for cake this evening and decided it was as good a time as any to christen our new kitchen!
